DOXX is a stylized horror short inspired by giallo films, created as our final project for class. I served as both the camera operator and storyboard artist, helping shape the film’s visuals from the early planning stages through production. We wanted this piece to stand out, so we leaned heavily into bold, expressive lighting, and using deep reds to signal danger or violence. We even invested around $200 in props and lighting equipment, including colored projectors to get the mood just right.
This was also our first time working with outside actors, which added a new level of collaboration and energy to the set. Micah Williams took on multiple roles as the film’s director, editor, scriptwriter, and actor playing the masked killer. Dave Ojeiduma acted and contributed to the lighting in multiple scenes. ShaniceDesvignes played one of the victims, and Abrahan Baltazar appeared in the heavily stylized bathroom sequence. From tracking shots under a car and tight in-car stabbing sequences to bathroom scenes with synchronized lighting and shadow play, every shot took a lot ofplanning and coordination.
Working with such a hands-on team pushed all of us to get more creative with both visuals and storytelling. DOXX was a chance for me to challenge myself with more ambitious cinematography, while also being part of a crew that cared about crafting something unique.
